Kate Collier is a Sussex-based pub poet who is passionate about building local community through the spoken word. and inspiring others to share their thoughts, feelings and sense of this challenging, changing world in their own way. The youngest of seven, she knows how hard it is to feel your voice matters too.

When times feel dark, Kate sees the natural world as the restorer of the imbalance we have created, ever-forgiving of who we humans are, and forever willing to sustain us. No better time than now for us to truly listen – and give back.
<>
These are her first published poems. She read the poem she wrote on the second day of lockdown on Radio 3’s ‘The Verb’. She runs and performs as Allie Rocket – an anagram of her name – at a monthly poetry and music pub evening in Shoreham-by-Sea, where she lives.

“From the lockdown poems, claustrophobic in their intensity, to the poems of the natural world such as the ‘charming’ goldfinch poem, and then on to humorous pieces which allow the reader the odd chuckle amongst the darker subject matter, Allie Rocket (Kate Collier) gives us her world view in chapter and verse. Some of the work will be familiar to those who’ve seen and enjoyed her readings at online open mic nights. This is a collection which seeks to preserve the oddness of these times.” Emma Purshouse
