MEMOIRS OF A REVOLUTIONIST new edition

Prince Peter Kropotkin’s classic autobiography ought to rank up there with Tolstoy or Gorky as a tale of growing up in Russia, to which we might add the account of his escape from prison in St Petersburg, with the help of a balloon, a violinist and some carpet slippers, and his slow disillusion with court life and growing sympathy with the peasants. This is, in fact, one of the great lost classics of Russian literature and it deserves to be better known.

Kropotkin also lived out his retirement in Bromley, and went on to influence the English back to the land tradition, alongside Morris and Ruskin, so that it took on a practical and modern edge. One of the truly great men of the last century. Includes a new introduction by David Boyle.
